I'm sure many out there have fed the rotary cutter a finger before.
I finally did.
Luckily, it was "just a flesh wound."
One Band-aid and I'm all better.
Back to cutting.
Feel free to share your worst cutting disaster if you feel so inclined. :)

Surf's Up Quilt Pattern
Pattern is now available here.
That's all I had the energy for today.
I'm exhausted.
So I'm going to bed.
Here's to hoping two kids sleep in tomorrow.

Salt Air
Hello,
It's been a while.
I know most of you are enjoying spring but for us, summer is practically here.
Houston only has Summer and Fall/Spring - no winter.
I spent half the day outside playing in the water.
It's amazing how much fun they can have with a plastic box half full of water and a few boats.
I should have just gotten out the blowup pool though.
Pretty soon both kids were squished together in the box completely unable to move.
Then, they both were upset with me when I called it done.
Summer is so fun with kids and I can't wait for our first beach day.
Believe it or not, I used to surf.
The Hawaii Northshore even (got my undergraduate degree out there).
Lest you think I was good, let me clarify that it was not Pipeline or Waimea.
But it was still a lot of fun.
I actually wore board shorts for almost 3 straight years.
So I have a serious soft spot for surfer and ocean anything - so naturally I needed some Salt Air!!
So you can probably see how this next quilt happened.
Because these things do just happen.
All on their own.
I can't be held responsible.
The whole quilt. I only used the blues and greens from the line for this quilt though I love the reds and yellows too.
I choose the large print paisley-ish water spout-ish print for the back.
I'd love to know what they called it.
They being Cosmo Cricket of course.
The fabrics close up.
I love my little painted quilt rack I found at the antique/consignment store by my house.
And now to dream of beach days with a little surfing in my near future :)
In the shop.

Preschool Gear
My little who just started preschool.
At my husband's request. ahem.
This entitled me to do a little sewing spoiling.
She needed a little lunch sack.
Fabric is Moda's Santorini by Tula Pink and pattern is here but instead of interfacing I did batting and insul-bright.
She needed a little pillow to rest her head during nap time.
She needed a Princess and the Pea nap mat!
Fabric is Moda's Soiree by Tula Pink and pattern is here but we did modify a few things.
I also used doubled low loft polyester batting to give it extra padding... it is a nap mat after all.
However, it was the biggest pain ever.
Skipped stitches, broken thread, bulkiness...
I'll stick to the dreamy cotton batting.
I embroidered her name.
Everything's better with your name prefaced by Princess, right?
And of course the little green button "pea."
The version of "The Princess and the Pea" we have explicitly states that there were 10 mattresses, 10 more mattresses and 20 blankets on top of that pea!
One perfect honey bun with 40 strips made my little who love it even more!
Oh the fabric "spoilage" is so fun!

Curio
I have a LONG list of various quilting things I'd like to try.
Call it my fabric "bucket list" if you will.
On it?
A tumbler quilt... among other things.
One day I should make a list.
But I might get intimidated by the length of it and give up.
Yes, so back to the tumbler quilt.
A little something in Curio.
This one is from a single charm pack - super quick and super easy.
Two charm packs and you've got a quick and easy baby quilt.
I feel my brain saying, "hint, hint."
Note to self: put this one in the arsenal.
Go figure, I have ANOTHER baby shower to go to this week.
What is with the babies?!?!
It's fair, I get to squish their little cheeks later... :)
I love the mix of colors and the texture in the prints.
BasicGrey has such a way with these...
A little loopy quilting and voila!
In the shop!
