Coasted out.

Back in September I broke my ankle playing volleyball. I came down on someone's foot which was well under the net. Sometimes in life you get punished for someone else's mistake. But I assume I'll eventually be fine. Though almost 4 months later I'm still limping. (On a side note, do not break your ankle. It takes 6-12 months to heal. No one has time for that. haha!)

But a broken ankle makes for little sewing (or anything else for that matter). I couldn't even leave it down sitting in a chair. But I'm slowly getting back to my usual self. Very, very slowly.

I can't even tell you how frustrated, bored, etc. I was as an invalid with four children. Especially the 2.5 year old twin boys. But grandma swooped in to save them and me so we survived. :)

And for a couple of projects while out of commission, I managed to make some coasters. It's funny how just finishing something, anything, makes me feel better. So I took some pictures today of my tiny accomplishments.

Have a happy stitching day!!

Pink Lemonade

My newest creation in Pink Lemonade by Tonga Treats.

My little who wanted to help... so I let her be Icarus. It looks like she's already too close and her wings are just starting to burn.

And really, these batiks are BRILLIANT.

I see lots of things when I look at these colors.

Fire, sunsets, but mostly...

Starburst candies? Seriously, reminds me of the Starbursts color combination. So much so that I had to go eat some. Thank goodness Halloween just happened and I had plenty of selection to rifle through for just the right thing.

It ended up about 64" x 64" and it's in the shop

Comma Baby Quilt

Another little baby quilt.

In Comma by Zen Chic for Moda.

I set aside many of the golds and greys in the line to create this concoction.

In the shop.

The half square triangles in this quilt are the left overs from making the shared baby quilt for the twins.

It only got a picture with Parker since he decided to mark his territory during this photo shoot.

Oddly enough (as seems to happen with most things I make) it's now being used by my older boy in place of his quilt that is still under construction.

Dresden Flowers

Remember this project ??

Ya know, the one I started and then entered the "mmm, what should I do now?" phase of my quilting process and then let it sit...
My husband called it "bench curing" in dental school.
You just leave your lab work alone on the bench and then "resubmit" it for a better grade a few days later.
Let's just say this one is fully "bench cured" and now 2 finished 42" x 42" quilts.

The biggest problem was deciding if and how to split them.
They could easily have ended up as runners, a lap quilt, pillow...
Well, just about anything you can do with a dresden plate...

Someone wanted to help this morning... :)

I actually didn't fully appreciate how pretty the backing fabrics were until I saw the bolts.
Jelly roll strips that have been chopped up into little pieces always lose something on the larger scale prints.

Which version do you like better?
Tangerine or violet?
For a girl obsessed with orange, it's amazing that I'm having a hard time deciding!

Arcadia... Is this my 5th?

Let's see...
There was this one.
And this one.
Oh, and that one too.
Yes, and another over there.
Even some coasters.

I've loved this fabric line for a LONG time.
Fabric line is Arcadia by Sanae for Moda.
I've been hoarding some quarter yard cuts and additional yardage.

LOVE the backing print.

And especially those nested circles.

This one ended up being a large baby or small lap quilt size at 42.5" x 47".

In the shop

Cuzco

I've had a BLAST sewing this one.
Such vibrant colors.

A rainbow rectangular prism.

Fabric line is Cuzco by Kate Spain for Moda.
Love.
Makes me wish one of these babies was going to be a girl.

In the shop. SOLD.

Geared up.

I know what you're going to say...
a BOY baby quilt?
What happened?

Ha, just kidding.
It seems like most fabric lines just tend toward to the girl quilt...

This was a little fabric line by Benartex that I just couldn't quite pass up.

The checkerboard border.

Gears and dots.
Very adorably boy fabrics.

Gears on the back in a different colorway.

Quilts + Flowers = Perfection.
:)

And of course, the plaid binding.

It's in the shop.

Happy weekend stitching!!!

Dresdens.

This was some cheerful sewing.
I love saturated color.
Now I'm trying to decide just what to do with these dresdens.
I've got 10.
I know, I really need one less or two more for a simpler decision.
I could do 2 baby quilts of 4 and a throw pillow.
I could just do 10 throw pillows.
I could do a lap quilt of 9 and a throw pillow.
I could make table runners...

These are the ones my little who was cutting apart for me.

If anyone knows just what I should do from here, please divulge in the comments section.
While I wait for inspiration to strike or for one of you dear readers to provide it, I'm going to sew something else.
No, I don't know what.
There's plenty of fabric around here though.
I'm sure I can find something that needs a stitch.

Some close shots.
Just because.

Happy stitching!!
