Dresdens.

This was some cheerful sewing.
I love saturated color.
Now I'm trying to decide just what to do with these dresdens.
I've got 10.
I know, I really need one less or two more for a simpler decision.
I could do 2 baby quilts of 4 and a throw pillow.
I could just do 10 throw pillows.
I could do a lap quilt of 9 and a throw pillow.
I could make table runners...

These are the ones my little who was cutting apart for me.

If anyone knows just what I should do from here, please divulge in the comments section.
While I wait for inspiration to strike or for one of you dear readers to provide it, I'm going to sew something else.
No, I don't know what.
There's plenty of fabric around here though.
I'm sure I can find something that needs a stitch.

Some close shots.
Just because.

Happy stitching!!

  1. Those are stunning dresdens! I think you should make some blue and orange toned blocks, then put them all together into one blanket. Whatever you do will be stunning, please keep us posted on the results!

  3. Love these blocks. The white strip of fabric really sets off the bold colours in this line. How did you cut the plate blades to incorporate the white? I would love to see a pattern or a quickie tutorial on this one!

  7. I would appliqué them on solid white using a random arrangement. Don't put them in rows. Then you could use a quilting running stitch 1/4 inch around the outside edges. Maybe use embroidery thread so that it shows up and makes the plates pop. Thread could coordinate using blue and orange.

  9. These are absolutely stunning! Gives me an idea. Someone gave me a bag full of perfectly cut 1" strips and I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out a clever way to use them.

  10. I too would like to know how you did the white stripping. I do a lot of Dresden's and I like that this is just a little different and it is very clean. It has a very structured fresh look'

  11. I too would like to know how you did the white stripping. I do a lot of Dresden's. I have done 5 since covid started. They are all hand done and hand quilted. I like that this is just a little different and it is very clean. It has a very structured fresh look.
