Latitude

I got a half a day of "my life" back today. My kids are ALL in school on Fridays as of two weeks ago. But some of these I am a parent chaperone for field trips so they don't count. In fact, I consider it "negative" time because even when it's over you are still exhausted. And if we balance the equation it means even less gets done. But I thought my down time could be used up this morning sharing a quilt I finished a while ago. I don't even know when - probably a few months but if it's been longer, please don't mention it, haha. The fabric strips of Latitude were sent to me by the fabulous Kate Spain. And gosh they are luscious.

This one wound up at 52" x 52" and is in the shop (because, let's face it, I'm nearly drowning in my quilting at this point - don't tell the husband, ha).

Something for a Saturday

Had to sew something today while I wait IMpatiently for my "Joy" fabric to arrive.
I guess I could have taken a photo of it in progress, but that just ruins the surprise for you.
I'm not much of a secret keeper.
More of a bean spiller.
So I'll tell you it's a granny square pattern.
Oh I so love those.
I had no idea they would be so fun to make.

Sew... back to the sewing of the day.
Decided to do this little project I've been leaving undone now for, well, 2.5 years? 3.5 years?
Oh, I can't remember.
It's the second half of a charm pack of Peace on Earth by 3 Sisters for Moda.

This fabric line was an early love of mine for its Christmas but not-too-Christmas-to-be-left-out-all-year prints.

The backing and binding are the same red tone-on-tone floral.

Simple echo quilting straight down the runner.

This one is long and skinny.
In the shop.

Fresh Cottons.

A little "Fresh Cottons" to share with you today.
(Fig Tree Quilts for Moda)

This one's actually pretty big - 60" x 72".
I love stacked coin quilts because they remind me of the DNA gel images in the lab.

I went with the largest scale print in the line for the backing and the green binding.

I also opted for borders on this one.
My little who was SERIOUSLY envious of that red dot fabric.
She wanted me to make a dress out of it.
NOW!
If I were a nice mom, I would have made her a dress with it.
Obviously, I'm not that nice. ;)
I'll grab more for her when I go back to the store if she reminds me, but my bet is that she'll forget all about it.

This one is in the shop

Etchings

Good morning beautiful Sunday.
I love taking photos in the morning with bright blue cloudless skies.
It makes it so much more enjoyable.

Up for photos today was Etchings - a larger version of this runner.
Same pattern just more.

Quilted in a loop-de-loop.

Binding looking a bit like a clam. :)

I love the blueprint fabrics in this line.
Between those, the text fabrics, and the gray color, it really modernized the otherwise very traditional feel of the florals in the fabric line.
I always like this type of juxtaposition.

Anyway, it's lap sized - 51" x 53" and available for love in the shop.

Hexagons by Machine

I've been wanting to try sewing some large hexagons by machine for a while now.
I came across this fabric (Beach House by Blackbird Designs for Moda) in my stash and thought it would be a good use for what's left of it.
I would definitely recommend this method.
I was actually amused during the piecing.
You can try out the method I used by watching the video here.
It's 16" x 27" and in the shop.

Nostalgia

After months of slowly working on this project it is finally done.
Doesn't everyone have a hexie project in the works??
It definitely seems like it out there in blogland.

Oh, and confession... I follow WAY too many blogs.
Hundreds.
I'd be scared to count them up.
I'm sure I could double my productivity in life if I didn't, but I love them all.

And now that this hexie project is done I have the impulse to start another...
Oh, those cute little ADDICTIVE hexies.

The fabric is Nostalgia (April Cornell, Moda), a lovely little floral line with soothing colors.
More pics in the shop too.

Beach House

Long time no post...
I thought I'd share this custom order lap quilt in Robyn Pandolph's Beach House that I recently did.
I'm now in LOVE with these fabrics. They are so cute and girly!!

More Bar Harbor

With the florals from this fabric line (Bar Harbor by Minick and Simpson for Moda) charm pack I made this little table topper (18" x 29") that is posted for sale.

(Diane, you should recognize this project since you were here for the start of it and are at least partially to blame! hehe. also at least partially to blame for that massive Arcadia purchase.)

The "non-florals" were used here.
I really enjoyed this fabric line.
Up next... ARCADIA!!!
It's already in the works (and if I wasn't lazy I would show you my progress).

more coasters

More coasters... these are so addictive.
All in the shop too.
I'm currently in the debate on which project to start next... a quilt? large, medium, small? the christmas one? jelly roll? layer cake? Decisions, decisions...
It's a good thing - I'll never get bored with this hobby and it's limitless options.
