Horizon

Every year I try to go to Quilt Festival.
Simply amazing.
Everywhere you look.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
Inspirational on every level.
And every time I think up something new I want to try.
And it's less than an hour's drive.
This year I left dreaming of quilting fabulousness.
(Not a word, I know.)
"Horizon" (Kate Spain for Moda) was the next fabric on the cutting table.
I went with a very simple modern design with lots of negative space for the quilting to share the spotlight.

I highly recommend this sort of quilting.
VERY fun.
I didn't want this project to end.
At 36" x 37", I felt like this project ended too soon.
I need to just start another one.

It has a random assortment of free motion feathers, flowers, vines, paisleys, swirls, and any other design I could think of to quilt doodle.

Granted it did take a lot of hours.
But they were some happy hours!

And more pics of the quilting.

Modern Patchwork Christmas Tree Quilt Pattern

Sometimes I get so lucky.
Like today when the babies slept synchronously all day and I actually had time to do something.
Like this.

Now available here. and here
Merry Christmas!!

It's a little bit warm outside

but Christmas comes early for quilters.
Really early.
It's awesome.
The non-quilter world just doesn't understand.
Like the In from the Cold fabric line by Kate Spain that made an appearance recently.

I've had this idea swimming in my head for a while.
My very loving husband held the twinners for me so I could sew a bit here and there until it finished.
Which reminds me...

Parker Eli and Preston Emery haven't made their debut on this blog... oh, the sweet babies.
So much sweeter when they're sleeping too. hehe.

Back to the quilt...

It's wall-hanging size.
I do plan on writing up a pattern for it in the very near future... just tell those little boys to go back to sleep. :)

I had a bit of fun with the quilting.

It had me singing Christmas songs again.
I'm sure everyone around here really appreciated that part.

One more...

Giraffe Love

My brain is stuck in baby mode.
It doesn't matter if it's a boy quilt or a girl quilt... it just ends up being a baby quilt in my head.
I'll have to force myself out of this streak sooner or later...

My mom has an obsession with giraffes and buys all sorts of giraffe baby stuff for my kiddos so I can't wait to show her this one!
Cute little modern stylized giraffes.
Love.

The fabric is from a fat quarter bundle sent to me by Joyce at Jellen's house of fabric for some sewing fun.
And believe me, I've had fun with it!

Applique up close.

Hanging out.

Ready for snuggling!

For the backing and borders I went with an "In the Beginning" dots print.
They remind me of googly eyes.

In the shop.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I hope you have lots of quilting friends, friends you've made quilts for, and happy quilts (or at least fabric!) to make them feel extra loved today!

Vintage Modern

I made another orange peel Sashiko circles quilt this time in Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille for Moda.

If you want one too, you can download the free pattern on my blog in the right side column.

I decided to make this pattern with the charm pack I bought after I flipped through it and saw this backing fabric. :)

Applique makes me happy.

Favorite fabric in this line was the red on pink houndstooth print.
I bought some yardage of it for a future dress for the little princess.
Better get started on those projects too.
I would love to know if there ever was a quilter who finished ALL of their projects!

In the shop.

Much Requested

It's finally available after many, many, many, many requests. :)
You can find it in the shop

P.S. I went to Quilt Festival this weekend, drug two (actually well-behaved) children in a double stroller through it, spent more than I should have, and definitely want to quilt my brains out now. Prepare yourselves for coming posts... hehe.

Christmas in July isn't over yet!

Christmas in July is definitely a quilting thing.
My husband just doesn't understand.
I walk around humming and sometimes singing LOUDLY all sorts of Christmas songs.
All the new Christmas fabrics are hitting the stores with projects to do.
And because it's only July I buy TONS of it knowing that I'll have plenty of time to make things. **insert sarcastic laughter here**
This idea was born a few weeks ago and after spending half a day drawing and coloring (with the help of my 3 year old - she really colored a lot of it for me) I had a pseudo-pattern ready to go.
Then I just had to execute the plan.
And I really really liked the results.

This one is a Stylized Christmas Tree Wall Hanging in 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain for Moda and it's in the
shop.

25 Days in 12 Days of Christmas

So the math may sound a little screwy but it just HAD to be made.
The "in-laws" were here for Thanksgiving and this sadly had to take a back seat to the festivities.
It's too bad that real life has to interfere with my sewing life. :o)

This happy fabric line makes me love Kate Spain even more.
It's a wall hanging advent calendar (with sleeve) with large pockets (the larger the chocolates the better, right?) and it's in the shop.

On a windy day

Another little something to show you!
This started as a little "I want to make a tree" project. Cut the leaves and the tree out, then I had to go shopping for the perfect background... I really like the way the tree pops off this background. I love Moda.

So another finish...
and a slightly lighter fabric load around here for a few days - at least until I go shopping again.
